Wallace Jackson Stanley, Jr., faithful husband, loving father and dedicated servant of the Lord, was gathered to his eternal rest on Sunday, December 1, 2013, in Batesville, Arkansas at the age of 73 years, seven months and 25 days. Known affectionately as "Brother Jack" or "Pastor Stanley" to most, he was a preacher of the gospel for over 50 years, pastoring churches in Texas and Oklahoma during that time. When his failing health limited his capacity to pastor he relocated to Highland, Arkansas with wife Nancy and special son David where he was a faithful member of Friendship Baptist Church for the past 13 years. When visitors and church family entered the sanctuary on Sunday mornings, Bro. Jack would be there to greet them with a warm smile and handshake from his wheelchair. What he lacked during these years in physical capacity, he made up for with a great heart of love for his Lord and compassion for his fellow man. He was preceded in death by his father, Wallace Jackson Stanley, Sr. in 2005 and by his mother, Irma Moreman, in 2010, granddaughter, Esther Gayle Stanley, in 2002 and great-granddaughter, Charity Joy Spray in 2010. He is survived by four sisters, Lana Wimberly of Whitehouse, Texas, Patricia Tuttle of Rogers, Texas and Mary (John Paul) Ray of Cisco, Texas and Margaret Lane of Gilmer, Texas, his wife of 55 years, Nancy of the home, son, Mike (Peggy) of Highland, daughters, Jackie (Jay) Spray of Myron, Arkansas, Elisabeth (Brad) Banks of Owenton, Kentucky, son, David of the home and Joanna (Anthony) Clark of Batesville. He is also survived by 19 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren. Of Bro. Stanley's sons, sons-in-laws, grandsons and grandsons-in-law, eight are preachers, pastors and missionaries. All of his family members serve the Lord with great joy of heart, ever thankful for the path of grace he has led them to follow. Funeral service will be at today 10 a.m. at Friendship Baptist Church in Highland. Officiating will be Mike Stanley, Micaiah Stanley, Brad Banks and Dave Kelley. Interment will be at Turkey Pen Cemetery near Highland. Memorials may be made to the Friendship Baptist Church Mission program at FBC Missions, 32 Liberty Hill Road, Highland, Ark. 72542. Arrangements entrusted to Heath Funeral Home of Highland. Online guestbook: www.heathfuneralhome.net.
