Marvin O. Woods

Marvin Otis Woods 87, of Memphis, Tennessee passed peacefully on December 4, 2013. His military career included serving in the Tuskegee Airmen Unit of the U. S. Army Corp and working at the Pentagon in Washington D.C. during World War II. During his residency in Los Angeles, Marvin was an active member of West Angeles C.O.G.I.C. After relocating to Memphis, he became a dedicated member of Temple of Deliverance C.O.G.I.C. He was also an active member of Dunbar Horace Mann Alumni Association. He taught at both Granite Mountain Elementary in Little Rock, and Letecia B. Weems Elementary in Los Angeles for 25 years, before retiring in 1999. Marvin is survived by his sister, Naomi Woods Maxies; a sister-in-law, Mabel Woods and a host of relatives and friends. The memorial service will be Monday, December 16, 2013, 11 a.m. at Ruffin and Jarrett Funeral Home, 1200 South Chester, Little Rock. Interment will follow with honors at Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery, 1501 West Maryland, North Little Rock, Ark.
