SCPO William Akin McKinney 87, of Cleveland, Ark. passed away Saturday, Dec. 14, 2013 at Conway Regional Medical Center. He was born April 17, 1926 in Bath Springs, Tenn. to the late Henry and Jane (Weatherly) McKinney. He was a veteran of the United States Navy and served for 22 1/2 years starting during World War II. William was very proud of his military service career. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Henry McKinney, and Frank McKinney; and a sister, Sara Schrader. He is survived by his loving wife, Colene (Hendrix) McKinney of the home; two sons, Patrick McKinney of Deltona, Fla., and Billy McKinney of Nashville, Tenn.; two daughters, Bridget Lane of Dover, Del., and Rebecca Nokes of Smyrna, Tenn.; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one step- son, Neil Weaver; two step-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Ann Pepin of Memphis, Tenn., and Dorothy Rankin of Knoxville, Tenn.; and many close friends.
