For more than a decade, Doris served with distinction as a volunteer at Baptist Health Medical Center - Little Rock, and was a regular recipient of volunteer recognition - including the Governor's Award for Outstanding Volunteer Service. She delivered gifts to the families of newborns, special greetings to those who were hospitalized on their birthday, patient mail and e-mail and surgery schedules. Her greatest level of service was in 2012 during which she donated 1,035 hours and had already given 24 hours of service during January of this year, last serving on January 7. She will be sorely missed by her Baptist Health "Family."

Through the years Doris was an active member of Oak Forest Baptist Church in Little Rock where she worshipped at the time of her death. She was also active for many years at South Highland Baptist Church in Little Rock where she took an active role in visitation and transporting members in need to church and medical appointments. Doris was also a lover of animals, providing food and shelter for any in need who happened by her home.
