Kenneth "Cobb" Boyette Bennett

Kenneth "Cobb" Boyette Bennett, of Cabot, passed away at the age of 71 on Jan. 31, 2013. He was born on Dec. 16, 1941, to the late and Donald K. and Lorene Boyette Bennett and was a native of Carlisle. He was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years Patricia Lape Bennett. He was a 1959 graduate of Carlisle High School, attended Ouachita Baptist University and was a 1965 graduate of the University of Arkansas with a BS in Civil Engineering. He worked for 32 years for Arkansas Power & Light and Entergy in a variety of engineering and construction management positions. Two professional achievements he was most proud of during his career were serving as project manager during construction of the White Bluff and Independence power plants. After retirement, he managed two small family farms and enjoyed traveling, sailing, golfing and hunting. He was a 32nd degree mason and active in Moose International where he served as Governor of Lodge 942 in Sherwood and was awarded his Pilgrim Degree of Merit in 2007. He served as president of the Arkansas Moose Association. He also chaired the committee that spearheaded the legalization of charitable bingo in Arkansas in 2005. He is survived by his son Gary and wife Terri of Little Rock, son Mark and wife Kathy of Carlisle; his sister Lanelle Bennett of New Orleans; two grandchildren Graham and Reid; one step-grandchild Anna, one great step-grandchild Hayden. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 5, at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Canon Stephen Kidd presiding and the family will receive friends on Monday Feb. 4 from 6 to 8 p.m. at North Little Rock Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to either The First Tee of Central Arkansas or Ducks Unlimited.
