Azile Moak, 69, of Clarksville died Saturday Feb. 2, 2013, in Russellville. Born Oct. 9, 1943, in Lamar, Arkansas, Mrs. Moak served as a teacher, gifted and talented program director, and principal for 32 years, retiring in 1998 as the principal of Kraus Elementary School in Clarksville. Mrs. Moak developed the gifted and talented education program for the Clarksville School District, which was one of the first such programs in the State of Arkansas. She was awarded a grant by the State to travel to other school districts and help them implement similar programs in their districts, contributing significantly to the development of gifted and talented programs for the children of Arkansas state-wide. Mrs. Moak was also appointed by Governor Bill Clinton to serve two terms on his Advisory Council for the Education of Gifted and Talented Children. Mrs. Moak was preceded in death by her father, Joe Dickey. Survivors include her mother, Euna Elenor Hardcastle Dickey of Russellville, formerly of Johnson County; her husband of 47 years, Don Moak of Clarksville; two daughters DeeNita Moak of McLean, Va., and Krista Moak of North Little Rock, Ar.; one grandson Aiden James Russell; two sisters JoAnn Dickey Shatwell and husband, Leroy, of Clarksville, and Glenna Dickey Dougan of Heber Springs, Ark.; a nephew Dickey Shatwell and wife, Teresa, of Lamar, Ark.; two nieces Kim Shatwell Young and husband, Chris, of Belton, Mo., and Kadra Dougan Daniel and husband, Doug, of Fox, Ark.; six great-nieces and great-nephews, and one great-great-niece. Visitation will be held at Roller-Cox Funeral Home in Clarksville from 6-8 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 4, and the funeral will be held at Cherry Street Baptist Church at 2 p.m. Tuesday Feb. 5. Burial will be at Annie's Chapel Cemetery in Lamar. Active pallbearers are Dickey Shatwell, Doug Daniel, Chris Young, Bobby Joe Wilkins, H.L. Stumbaugh, and John Schuh. Honorary pallbearers are L.G. Crutchfield, Claud Dougan, and Don Dougan.
