Walter E. "Sonny" Simpson, 77, of Little Rock, passed away on Tuesday, February 5, 2013. He was born September 9, 1935 in Searcy, Arkansas to the late Ivy Williams and Gail Simpson. He dedicated his life to police service. He worked for the Little Rock Police from 1959 until his retirement in 1986, advancing to the position of Police Chief. He was of the Methodist faith. He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Roger Simpson. He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Betty Simpson; son, Scott Simpson; daughter, Stacy and husband David Robinson; grandchildren, Kyle and Kendall Robinson and Savannah Simpson; sister, Eloise Quattlebaum; brother, James Marlon and wife Louise Simpson; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m., Friday, February 8, 2013, at Roller-Chenal Funeral Home, 13801 Chenal Parkway, Little Rock, (501) 224-8300, followed by a memorial service at 1 p.m. The family will receive friends following the service at 7 Glade Court, Little Rock, Arkansas.
