Ms. Betty Mae Dorsey of Palestine Arkansas died Tuesday, February 5, 2013 in Little Rock Arkansas after a lengthy illness. Ms. Dorsey was born July 6, 1951, to Mrs. Zirlee Oliphant Dorsey Ramsey and Mr. Peter Dorsey. Betty Dorsey was a 1974 graduate of Philander Smith College, Little Rock, with membership in the Tau Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority. She was previously employed by the Department of Human Services, Little Rock, and was also a substitute teacher in the Palestine and Forrest City School Districts. Ms. Dorsey was preceded in death by her parents, Peter Dorsey and Zirlee Dorsey Ramsey; grandparents, Robert and Nellie Hayes Oliphant, Washington and Mae Betty Dorsey, brother, Argest Dorsey and Uncles Robert and Nathaniel Oliphant and one nephew, Calvin Chism. She is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Virse (Michael) Watts of Fullerton, California; Ms. Hazel Ramsey Scroggins of Little Rock; five nephews, Curtiss Scroggins and Ferrari Scroggins of Little Rock, Michael and Marcus Watts of Fullerton California, and Argest Dorsey Jr. of Chicago, Illinois; two uncle, Mr. James Oliphant, Forrest City, Arkansas, formerly of Chicago, Illinois and Joseph B. Dorsey of Los Angeles, California. Ms. Dorsey is also survived by a special friend of almost three decades, Mr. Renarld Green of Palestine, Arkansas. Graveside Services to be held at the West Shady Grove Cemetery in Tchula, Mississippi on Saturday, February 9, 2013 at 11:00 am, Services entrusted to Moore's Funeral Home of Ashdown, Arkansas under the loving and family care of Mrs. Julia Moore licensed funeral director. 870 -898-5194.
