Helen Louise Girdner Clardy

Helen Louise Girdner Clardy, 88, of Hot Springs passed away Tuesday, February 5, 2013. She was born February 27, 1924 in Mercer, Missouri to the late William A. Girdner & Rose Painter Girdner. She was a retired R.N., homemaker, and a dedicated volunteer. She was an active member of First United Methodist Church and a long time volunteer and Board member at Jackson House. She loved playing Bridge, bird watching, identifying and growing wild flowers, sewing, traveling and listening to Dixieland jazz. She was predeceased by her husband, E.K. Clardy M.D. and her brother, Paul Girdner. Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Col. USAF retired, William F. & Lynn Clardy; daughter and son-in-law, Martha Clardy Chamness and David Chamness; three grandchildren, Bryan H. Clardy, Meredith L. Clardy, Michael K. Clardy; and three great-grandchildren. Memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, February 9 at First United Methodist Church with Rev. David Wilson and Dr. Michael Mattox officiating. The family wishes to thank you the caregivers at West Shores and Arkansas Hospice. Special thanks to Nancy Wilkerson, Joanne Delgado, and Allen Love of Alternative Care of Hot Springs for the personal and loving care given to Helen. Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church of Hot Springs or the Eleanor Klugh Jackson House for Crisis Intervention. Arrangements are by Hot Springs Funeral Home.
