Merwin H. Triplet, age 80 of Emerson, Ark. passed away Friday, Feb. 8, 2013, in his home with his family by his side. He was born in Emerson on March 13, 1932, to Calvin Roy and Nobie Lee (Stevens) Triplet. Merwin was a lifelong resident of Emerson. It was where he returned to after serving his country in the US Army during the Korean War. It was where he raised his family. After his retirement with Arco Oil and Gas, it was then he returned full time to doing what he truly loved, working the farm. Merwin would fill his days with any number of tasks whether in the vegetable garden, cutting the hay, tending to the cows or riding one of his tractors he was so proud of. Working the farm wasn't a job for Merwin but more a labor of love. And on the 8 day, God looked down on his planned paradise and said "I need a caretaker." So God made a farmer. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife and mother of his children, Mary Frances (Gatlin) Triplet, second wife, Sammie (Jones) Triplet, two brothers, Harold Triplet and Don Triplet. Those left to cherish his memory are one daughter, Paula Cochran and Royce Prince of Emerson; one son, Tommy Triplet and wife, Kim of Emerson; six grandchildren, Randy Dodson and wife, Tiffany of Parkers Chapel; Jason Dodson of Little Rock; Jessica Triplet of Magnolia; Ben Triplet of Ft. Hood, Texas; Chad Cochran of Emerson; Christa Mosley and husband, Jason of Walkerville; Seven great-grandchildren; a host of extended family and friends. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2013, at Bailey Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Larry Goza officiating. Burial will follow at Emerson Presbyterian Cemetery under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home in Magnolia. Visitation will from 6-8 p.m. Monday evening at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Jeff Triplet, Jarrett Triplet, Ben Triplet, Kelly Waller, Randy Dodson and Russell Viator. Honorary pallbearers will be Virgil Bradley and Paul Stanley.
