VAUGHN FLOYD SHIRLEY finished this step of his eternal life Feb. 9, 2013. He was born in Holtville, Calif., on June 12, 1930, to Rufus Alton Shirley and Laura Vivian Carmical Shirley. They preceded him in life as did son Samuel Shirley, brother Willard Shirley, and sister Jean Hubbard. He was a born again Christian and a man of faith who dedicated his life to the study, teaching, and preaching of the gospel of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. All that met him recognized the integrity with which he lived this life. He leaves with respect, his loving wife, Tressie Mae Mitchell Shirley sons Tom Shirley (Beverly) and Joseph Shirley of Jacksonville, John Shirley (Deborrah) of Amherst, Ohio, daughters LaVaughn Polk (Earl) and Janice Fortson (Leon) of Jacksonville, brother Maurice Shirley of Cabot and sister Tommie Beaudry of Austin. 21 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren and many others who called him Grandpa, along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, and many others who called him Grandpa. And all his brothers and sisters in the Lord across this great nation he loved. Many thanks to Des Arc Nursing and Hospice for their loving care and support. A celebration of his life will be Tuesday Feb. 12 at 2 p.m. at Life Tabernacle, Hwy 107, Macon. Visitation will be on Monday 6 p.m.–9 p.m. at Griffin Leggett on Landers Road, Sherwood. Burial will be in Stanfill Cemetery.
