Ursula Netamaria Reed

Ursula Netamaria Reed was born March 24,1953 in little Rock, Ark. Raised and nurtured by her beloved parents, the late Rev. Caesar and Cleo B. Holmes. She became an accomplished musician who served diligently in the service of the lord for over 50 years. Educated in the little Rock Public School system, Ursula was a graduate of the 1971 class of Central High School and a 1975 graduate of the University of Arkansas at little Rock completing a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Education. Known around the city for her magical touch on the piano keys, Ursula also sang in several gospel choirs and groups in addition to giving piano and voice instruction. Over the course of 45 years, she served as pianist/organist at Canaan Missionary Baptist Church, Eighth Street Baptist Church, and as Minister of Music at Holy Cross Missionary Baptist Church. She lifted her voice in worship through many church choirs and gospel groups including The Gospel lyrics and the A-1 Gospel Singers. During her musical journey, she met and married Kenneth leon Reed, Sr. To this union they added: Tymberli Raichelle, Aundra leechelle, Kenndryk D'Wiliiams, and Joydan Kencharyta. A teacher and educator, Ursula taught in the NlR School District, helping adults to receive their GED certificates through the Even Start Program and later continued in her passion for music through instructing students in music in both the East and West campuses of NLR High School-touching and molding the lives of many students to realize and use their talents through song. Transitioning gracefully and quietly into the safety ofthe Master's arms, Ursula departed this life on Saturday, February 9, 2013 to enter into heavenly rest. She leaves to celebrate her life, her husband, Kenneth l. Reed, Sr., four children, Tymberli Tayloy(Bryant), Aundra Easter (Gregg), Kenndryk Reed, Joydan Reed, one sister, Maria Ramirez, one brother, Vernon Holmes (Sharon), one special sister, Denise R. Clay, and five grandchildren, Gregg Easter, Bryant Taylor, Amahri Easter, Grehlon Easter, Kendahl Taylor, and a host of family and friends. A private service will be held for family only.
