James Russell "Buck" Avant

James Russell "Buck" Avant, 87 of Benton passed away February 11, 2013 after battling Alzheimers. Buck was born June 15, 1925 in Hampton, Ark. to Leonard "Dunk" and Vera Avant. He was a retired truck driver who loved to deer hunt, fish and going to the flea market but above all, he was a loving father and grandfather. He was a veteran of the United States Army and served in World War II. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Angalee Avant; his bothers, Jerrell Avant, Rio Avant, Marvin Avant and Bill Avant; his sisters, Mary Francis Earnest, Molly Sue Wilson, and Zadie Nettles. He is survived by his daughter, Sharon Mauser; granddaughter, Kara Smith; and very special great-granddaughter, Haylee Curd; along with two brothers, Jack Avant and William Avant. Visitation will be Thursday, February 14, 2013 from 4-6 p.m. at Proctor Funeral Home. Graveside service at 1 p.m. Friday at Pinecrest Cemetery in Alexander, Ark. Rev.
