Sarah Colleen (Austin) Hale, 77, of Benton, passed away Thursday, Feb. 14, 2013. She was born in Independence County on Nov. 6, 1935, to the late Robert Austin and Cynthia (Walker) Austin. After graduating from Tuckerman High School, she obtained her Registered Nursing License in 1956 from St. Vincent's in Little Rock. She served many years as an R.N. but retired from Teletype in Little Rock. Mrs. Hale was of the Church of Christ faith, enjoyed genealogy and tending to her flower garden. She also loved cats and dogs. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her siblings, Devona Crawford, Mabry Austin, Med Thomas, Monroe Austin, Gene Austin, and Georgia Brock. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Leon Hale; two sons, John David and wife Ginger Hale and Joseph Daryl Hale; six grandchildren, Evan Loy, Christopher and Stephanie Hale, Robert and Michael Blacklock, and Sissy White; five great-grandchildren, Azlee Blacklock, Jordan, Hunter, and Walker Jay, and Trinity Blacklock; one sister, Sally Eagan of Mt. Vernon, Texas; one sister-in-law, Mary McNamee; numerous nieces and nephews; other relatives, and friends. Graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2013 at McPherson Cemetery in Benton.
