Margarette (Peggie) Joan Walker, 89, of Hot Springs, Ark., formerly of Quitman, Ark., died Feb. 19, 2013, at Mercy Hospital in Hot Springs. She was born in Quinlan, Texas, on Oct. 1, 1923, to Henry and Viola Holden and was a current resident of West Shores Retirement Community in Hot Springs. Peggie was a talented pianist, having served as choir director, pianist, and organist for many years at Quitman United Methodist Church. She was a current member of Piney Grove United Methodist Church in Hot Springs. She served as Worthy Grand Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star and cherished memories of her 47 years of marriage to Ralph L. Walker. Peggie is survived by her daughters, Melanie (Jerry) Nichols of Hot Springs, Robin (Dan) Stripling of Saline County; 11 grandchildren, Brian Donnell, Jason Donnell, Aaron Donnell, Chandra McNutt, Shannon Foo, Donna Robbins, Nathan Stripling, Morgan Stripling, Rachel Stripling, Walker Stripling, and Luke Stripling; and 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and son, Randall Walker. The family expresses their appreciation to West Shores Retirement Community and Arkansas Hospice for the excellent care provided. Funeral services will be at 2 on Tuesday, Feb. 26, at Olmstead Funeral Home in Heber Springs with burial at Fairbanks Cemetery.
