Joshua Doyle Joyner, age 30, beloved husband, father, son, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin, and friend, lost his battle with cancer on Dec. 31, 2012. He passed peacefully while surrounded by family and friends. He is survived by his loving wife of 6 years, Megan and precious son, Samuel, of Beebe; parents, Ben and Terrie Joyner, and brother, Michael Joyner, all of Heber Springs; great-grandmother, Ruby Crawford and grandmother, Charlotte Powell, both of Quitman; grandfather, Harold D. Joyner of Bee Branch; and numerous other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Wayman C. Young; uncle, John Doyle Joyner; and grandmother, Mary Frances Joyner.
Josh was born July 9, 1982 in Heber Springs. He was a member of the Heber Springs First Baptist Church and was a graduate of Heber Springs High School, Class of 2000. He was a member of Boy Scout Troop No. 200 in Heber Springs, where he earned his Eagle Scout rank.
Josh was an avid outdoorsman who loved fishing and hiking and worked for several years as a fishing guide on the Little Red River. After receiving a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance from the University of Arkansas at Monticello, he worked as a Senior Budget Analyst at the DFA for the State of Arkansas. He was happiest outdoors and when surrounded by family and friends.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 3, at Olmstead Funeral Home in Heber Springs. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Josh Joyner Hope Wellness Fund at any US Bank. These donations will be used for an education fund for Samuel.
