Preston "Pat" Harness

Preston "Pat" Harness, 77, of Jefferson, died Thursday, January 3, 2013 at home. He was born September 8, 1935 in England, Arkansas, son of Oscar and Ruby Faye Spencer Harness. Mr. Harness was reared and received his early education in Plum Bayou, graduating as the class valedictorian in 1952. He worked at Parts Warehouse, Inc. in Little Rock for over 40 years. Mr. Harness was a member and Head Deacon for Kearney Baptist Church. He loved to play music and sing for the Lord, loved to be around people and loved to hunt and fish. Mr. Harness was loved very much by his friends and family and will be greatly missed. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Andrew Harness. Survivors include his wife, Mae Wallace Harness of Jefferson; children, Deborah Kay Harness, Cheyenne Harness, Herb Drye (Julie), Jeff Drye (Sheryl), Brenda Sperry and Pat Baugh (Eddie); 14 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and special friend, Stan Motsinger. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, January 5, 2012 in the Chapel of Ralph Robinson & Son with Reverend Billy Burks officiating. Burial will follow in Jefferson Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Robinson's. The family would like to thank Dr. Caradine and her staff as well as Arkansas Hospice for their loving care for Mr. Harness.
