Roy Franklin Duncan, Sr., 67, of Sherwood passed away Tuesday, January 1, 2013. He was retired owner/operator of Duncan Typewriter Service. He is survived by his daughters, Frankie Michelle Duncan and granddaughter, Erica of Sherwood, Arkansas; Sue Anne Edford of Oklahoma; son, Roy F. Duncan, Jr.; and four sisters, Nancy Disbrow, of Phoenix, Arizona; Linda Bixby, of Roanoke, Virginia; Sarah Jones (James Jones), of Jones, Oklahoma; Sandra Rippey, of Ft. Smith, Arkansas; many dear friends that he considered his family, and his pets, Shadow and Lucy. He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Phoebe Duncan and a sister, Sonia Duncan. Roy served his country in the U.S. Army for three years (Ft. Hood, Texas and Korea) with honorable discharge. His father started the Roy Duncan Typewriter Shop in Little Rock in the early 1950's. Roy assumed ownership in 1979. In his community, he was known as "The Typewriter Man." He could "fix" most anything; and if he couldn't, he was always willing to "direct you" on how to do it. One of his favorite things was to sit on the river bank fishing for hours. It was his peaceful time for reflection. He was a very loving daddy and caring friend to all. He held his family very close to is heart, no matter the distance. He would do anything for anyone in need. He had a very big heart. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m., Saturday at the North Little Rock Funeral Home Chapel followed with a burial services at Rest Hills Memorial Park.
