Veva "Parkie" Parkinson Mantooth, 100, went to be with our Lord, January 2, 2013. Parkie was born December 7, 1912 in Okmulgee, Oklahoma to Ora C. Parkinson and Effie Melinda Brock Parkinson. She married Claude W. Mantooth on June 30, 1935 and they were happily married for 54 years. He preceded her in death, as did her two older sisters, Zelma and Juanita. Survivors include her son, John (Pauline) Mantooth of Garland, Texas; two daughters, Marge (Larry) Solley of Little Rock, Arkansas and Barbara (Alan) Golden of Shreveport, Louisiana. Grandchildren include Karen (Danny) Sullivan of North Little Rock, Arkansas; Wayne (April) Solley of Westlake, Texas; Mark (Karen) Mantooth of Sachse, Texas; David (Tracy) Mantooth of Farmers Branch, Texas; Todd Ellington of Shreveport, Louisiana and Laura Golden of Penbroke Pines, Florida. Great-grandchildren include Katie, Billy and Renalson Sullivan; Grant and Weston Solley and Joshua Mantooth. Visitation will be held at Roller-Chenal Funeral Home, Friday, January 4, 2013 from 6-8 p.m. Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, January 5, 2013 in the Roller-Chenal Funeral Home Chapel, 13801 Chenal Parkway, Little Rock, Arkansas 72211 (501) 224-8300. Burial will be in Alexandria, Louisiana at a later date. God was always the center of Parkie's life. She had a profound belief in the Bible and raised her family by its teachings.
