WILLIAM RICHMOND (BILL) BATHURST, age 87, of Little Rock, left this life on Dec. 31, 2012. Son of Dr. W.R. and Anna Howell Bathurst of Little Rock, Bill attended Pulaski Heights Grammar School and Jr. High, LR High School, Kemper Military School, and graduated from Babson College, Massachusetts. He served in the Army during WW2 in combat, 1 Scout in the "C" Co., 313th Infantry Regiment, 79 Infantry Division fighting in Belgium, France, and Germany. Bill was a 32-degree Mason, Leader/Founder of Boy Scout Troop 3 in LR, past member of Union Rescue Mission Board, and lifetime member of Disabled American Veterans. He was looking forward to celebrating 50 years, one day at a time, of sobriety with Alcoholics Anonymous. He retired as Regional Director, Prison Fellowship Ministries-Arkansas/Louisiana/Texas. Previously he was employed with Block Investments and Realty. While RVing for 15 years, he and Kathy volunteered at Walt Disney World and Oregon and California Coast State Parks. He is survived by his wife of 39 years Katherine Davy Bathurst; two daughters, Chris Roop (David) and Kim Smith (Dave), six grandchildren and several great-grandchildren of Tucson, Arizona; a very loving, special stepdaughter, Linda Green (James) of Little Rock, Karen Hill (Steve Acquilano) of Oregon, Little Rock grandchildren and great grandson: Tyler Hill, Kevin and Daley Fair, and the bright light in his life, Clair Green. Funeral services will be held at St. Andrews Anglican Church, 8300 Kanis Rd, LR; Jan. 8 at 2 p.m. Visitation following. In lieu of flowers, Bill felt his wife would make better use of Kroger or Walmart giftcards. Bill wanted to recognize the TLC of the doctors and nurses at both VA hospitals especially Christine Shain, APN; Donna Florez, APN and the others at VA Home Based Care; Nurse Mary-VA ICU.
