Ray Alford Wilson

Ray Alford Wilson, 87, of Dumas, Arkansas, was born March 26, 1925 in Stuttgart, Arkansas, the son of the late Ray and Matilda Wilson. Mr. Wilson was a member of First United Methodist Church in Dumas, Arkansas. He retired from Arkansas Power and Light (Entergy) after thiry seven years of employment. Mr. Wilson departed this life in Dumas, Arkansas on January 9, 2013. His parents; three brothers, Claude, Charles and John Fred Wilson; two sisters, Helen Valentine and Marie Whitman preceded him in death. Mr. Wilson served in the United State Navy during World War II, and was stationed at Pearl Harbor during the bombing by Japan. He was very active not only with the church but in the commnuity of Dumas for over 60 years. He served as Sgt. of Arms for State Commander of American Legion, Past commander of Walter Hall Post 84 in Dumas, active with Boy's State and Girls's State, The Flag Program, VFW, and was a retired volunteer Dumas Fireman. He was a member of Men's Sunday School Class and served as an Usher at First United Methodist Church. He worked Ding Dong Days pancake breakfast and helped establish Dumas Swimmers Club. Survivors are his wife, Eunice Wilson of Dumas, Arkansas; step son, "Bill" William McGraw of La Harbor, California; daughters, Helen Annette Edwards of Stuttgart, Arkansas and Carolyn Hughes of Texas; step daughter, Barbara Finn of Memphis, Tennessee, six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Visitation held from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Friday, January 11, 2013, Griffin Funeral Home Chapel, Dumas, Arkansas. Funeral Services held 2 p.m., Saturday, January 12, 2013, Emanuel Lutheran Church, 209 South Grand Street, Stuttgart, Arkansas. Followed by burial in Buerkle Cemetery, Stuttgart, Arkansas. Memorials in memory of Mr. Wilson made to First United Methodist Church, 230 Court Street, Dumas, Arkansas 71639 or to Emanuel Lutheran Church, 209 S. Grand Street, Stuttgart, Arkansas.
