Mr. Martin served in the United States Navy on Guam during World War II. Following his military service he obtained a Bachelors degree in Business and had a long and distinguished career with Equitable Life Assurance. Music as a means of worshipping the Lord he loved passionately is what drove "Bud" Martin and he spent over 30 years as the Minister of Music at Bethany Assembly of God church in Springfield, Mass. where he inaugurated both the annual Living Christmas Tree and Living Cross musical programs as well as playing the organ for the weekly "Bethany Hour" radio broadcast. He was the Choir Director and Organist for Western Hills United Methodist Church in Little Rock for many years and leaves behind many worship songs that he wrote for his various choirs over the years. A member of the American Guild of Organists and a gifted pianist, Mr. Martin continued to share his love of music with his fellow residents of the Elmcroft Assisted Living Center in Sherwood, Ark. where he gave a piano concert every Thursday.
