GEORGE DENTON BAILEY, of Little Rock, beloved by many, died Monday, Jan. 14, 2013, at age 92. He was born in New Bethel Community, Columbia County, Ark., to Napoleon B. and Bobby Grimmett Bailey on July 27, 1920. He graduated from McNeil High School in 1939 and attended Chillicothe Business College, Chillicothe, Mo. He joined the US Navy where he served for three years on the USS Core. After returning home, he was office manager for Fallin Tractor Co., Magnolia, and then worked for the Federal Bureau Prisons until retiring in 1979. In retirement, he enjoyed time with family and friends, gardening, bird watching and playing Mexican dominos. His gentle strong presence leaves a void. George is pre-deceased by his first wife, Nell Knight Bailey; sister Dessie Murphree; sons George Denton Bailey, Jr., Robert Raymond Bailey and Command Sergeant Major James Wyatt Berry. He is survived by his cherished wife of 57 years, Anne Wyatt Bailey and their daughters Celia Martin (Gene) of Little Rock and Nell Saulter of Seagoville, Texas; brother T.W. Bailey of Chico, Calif. and many dear grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. The family is grateful for the care given by Dr. Harold Hedges and Dr. Patrick Fields. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 22, at St. Mark's Episcopal Church, 1000 N Mississippi, with reception to follow.
