RUTH DAVENPORT, age 69, of Sherwood, passed away Thursday, Jan. 24, 2013. She was born Feb. 13, 1943, in Wehlen, Germany. When she was 18, she married an airman and made the brave move to America. She was a loving and selfless wife, mother, and grandmother. She began each day with strength, wisdom, and courage, and through all adversities, she kept a positive outlook on life. Her personality was a testimony to everyone she met. Ruth was a member of the Gold Wing Road Riders Association (GWRRA) with her husband for 24 years. She was also a faithful member of Sylvan Hills Community Church. She enjoyed spending time with her many friends and the Sherwood Senior Aerobics group. She also loved tending to her beautiful garden. Ruth is preceded in death by her parents, Mathias Wagner and Maria Baum; her brother, Ottmar Wagner; her daughter Tina Willim; and her grandson, Charley Boring III. She is survived by her devoted husband of 52 years, Grover D. Davenport of Sherwood; her brother, Theo and wife Adelheid of Germany; sister-in-law, Inge of Germany; three children, Tammie J. Tabor of Cabot, Jerry E. Davenport of Perryville, Michael E. Davenport of O'Fallon, Ill.; four grandchildren, Heather J. McCoun and husband Robert of Angleton, Texas, Shane A. Tabor and wife Laura of North Little Rock, Jennifer L. Davenport of Cabot, Jason E. Davenport and wife Tiffany of Sherwood; and five great-grandchildren. The family would like to thank all of the Chemo Nurses at Little Rock Hematology and the staff at UAMS for their compassionate care. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made in her memory to the Sylvan Hills Community Church Building Fund or charity of choice. Visitation will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2013, at Sylvan Hills Community Church in Sherwood with funeral service to begin at 11:30 a.m. Burial will follow at Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery in North Little Rock at 1 p.m. Arrangements by Arkansas Funeral Care of Jacksonville, www.arkansasfuneralcare.com.
