Penny Rae Davis

Penny Davis, 69, of Bald Knob, formerly of Searcy passed away January 27, 2013 after a brief but valiant battle with cancer. Penelope Rae (Adkins) Davis was born June 20, 1943 in Concordia, Kansas to Carl R. and Virginia A. (Long) Adkins. Upon relocating to Arkansas in 1954, Penny found her true earthly home. While she wasn't born here, she got here as quickly as she could. After graduation from Searcy High School (Class of 1961), Penny trained and became a Registered Radiological Technologist. She served in this and other capacities in the medical field for many years. Penny volunteered as a Cub Scout Den Mother, was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, enjoyed a lifelong love of music and earlier in her life served as church organist at the First Christian Church in Searcy. Through the years she made many lifelong, personal and profession friends who will miss her compassion, her supporting spirit and her sense of humor. Penny married the late Frank (Frankie) M. Davis on February 4, 1965 and together this union produced three children. Penny is preceded in death by her mother, father, husband Frankie and a sister, Susan. Survivors include her children Dustin, Shannon (Evelyn) and Whitney (Corey) all of Bald Knob, seven grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and siblings Mark and Robyn. Survivors also include a sister-in-law, Fannie Brown, an aunt, nieces, nephews, cousins and many, many friends. Penny's passing brought her much needed relief from the pains and suffering of this world but it left a void in the hearts of those who loved her. Services will be conducted Wednesday, January 30, 2013, 10 a.m., Powell Funeral Home Chapel in Bald Knob. Interment will follow in Augusta Memorial Park. Arrangements entrusted to Powell Funeral Home Bald Knob-Judsonia. www.powellfuneralhome.net.
