Edith S. Honeycutt, 89, was born July 7, 1924 and died on July 12, 2013 due to heart complications. Edith was the oldest of five children born to S.L. and Emma (Collins) Sooter in Springhill, Ark. She was preceded in death by her parents; her two brothers, Robert Joe and James William ‘Jake" Sooter; and one sister, Edna Ruth Sooter; and three years ago by her loving husband of 66 years, J.T. Honeycutt. He was the love of her life, best friend and confidant since the summer of 1944, when they first met. She is survived by one sister, June Davis (Gene) of DeKalb, Texas; one son, Dr. John H. Honeycutt (Ann) of Paragould, Ark.; one daughter, Betty Ruth Welch (Jerry) of Mount Ida, Ark.; three grandchildren, Dr. John H. Honeycutt Jr. (Shannon) of Fort Worth, Texas, Josh S. Honeycutt, (Danielle) of Paragould and Amanda Sarver (Nicholas) of Hot Springs Village, Ark.; and eight great-grandchildren, Anna, Caroline, Elizabeth, Carter, and John David Honeycutt and Cooper, Lili and Holland Sarver. Edith lived a full life. Her experiences of growing up during the Great Depression impacted her life significantly, she pinched every penny and took advantage of every possible savings opportunity to provide for her family and save for the future. Even though she worked outside the home to earn a living, she was a homemaker extraordinaire. She did it all from sewing to cleaning to managing the finances and planning family outings. She was an excellent cook and had a special gift to taste a dish, decipher the ingredients and reproduce the recipe. She wouldn't stop until she got the dish just right! The family will receive friends prior to the service between 12 and 1:30 p.m. at Herndon-Pharr Funeral Home. Graveside service will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 14, 2013 with Rev. Kenneth Bobo officiating under the direction of Herndon-Pharr Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to: University of Arkansas Community College at Hope, J.T. Honeycutt Scholarship Fund, P. O. Box 140, Hope, Ark. 71802-0140. Online guest book at www.pharrfuneralhomes.com.
