On Monday, July 8, 2013, Carl G. Tanner Sr., 77, of Conway, formerly of Wynne, Arkansas, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He was born July 19, 1935, in Carlisle, Arkansas, a son of the late John Ed and Lorena Tanner. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Elvie Marcotte and a brother, Ed Tanner. Carl was a loving husband, father, granddad, great granddad, brother, uncle and friend. He retired from the US Soil Conservation Service; and was a retired, self-employed land surveyor. Mr. Tanner was a member of Woodland Heights Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Betty Tanner; daughter, Monica Williams, both of Conway; son, Glen Tanner, Jr. and wife Pam of Marion; his sister, Vivian Britt of Pocahontas; six grandchildren, Erin Ragan (Casey), Sarah Martin (Luke), Samantha Harris (Shea), Kayla Gattis (Andrew), Matthew Williams (Nikki), Bradley Tanner; seven great-grandchildren, and a number of nephews and nieces. Funeral was held 11 a.m. Thursday, July 11, 2013, in the chapel of Griffin Leggett Conway, with Bro. Randy Anderson officiating. Burial was in Carlisle Cemetery.
