Helen Cox

Helen Cox of Sherwood, formerly of Paragould, born June 3, 1925, was reunited in Heaven with the love of her life, Ermon, on July 14, 2013, after nearly 55 years apart. Helen was a beloved mother, grandmother, and sister, and her love for life and infectious personality touched all who knew her (and made an impression on those that didn't). Helen was a hard worker who raised and supported Benny and Diane with all the love and support any child could ask for following the tragic death of her husband, Arkansas State Trooper Ermon Boyce Cox, in the line of duty in 1958. She was a member of Village Creek Church of Christ and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. Helen retired from the Monroe Auto Equipment factory in Paragould in 1988. In the years following her retirement, if she wasn't with her sister, Wava, searching the local antique stores for one of her many "pretties" which adorned every nook and cranny of her home, she could usually be found walking at the local track, sometimes up to five miles per day. Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Ermon; infant son, Darrell, and infant daughter, Janet; parents, Roy and Mary Harvey; and siblings, Wava Fletcher, Lillian Good, Ruby Joshlin, Norman Harvey and Eugene Harvey. She is survived by one son, Benny Boyce Cox (Ginger) of Little Rock; one daughter, Helen Diane Wilkins of Sherwood; grandchildren, Cory Wilkins of Sherwood, Kacey Groves (Greg) of Brookland, and Lorie Beck (Jared) of Paragould; siblings, Arthur Harvey (Ann) of Paragould, Roy Lee Harvey of Dixie, and Mary Linda McNatt (Bill) of Jonesboro; as well as numerous nieces and nephews who will deeply miss her. Visitation will be 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. Tuesday at Mitchell Funeral Home, Paragouldf. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, July 17th, at Mitchell Funeral Home Chapel with Burl Young officiating. Burial will follow in Clark's Chapel Cemetery.
