William R. "Dick" Dawson, 85, of Sherwood passed away, Monday, July 15, 2013. He was born to the late William David Dawson and Edna Mae Grosse. Dick was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife, Lois; a grandchild, Jessica Lynn Westerfield. Dick was a member of Park Hill Presbyterian Church. He was a Korean War Veteran, a recipient of the Distinguished Flying Cross. He served 23 years in the U S Air Force and had a great passion for flying. Life after the service took him down many paths and including building houses, working on airplanes and volunteering at his beloved church. Dick was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend. He is survived by two daughters, Kathy Clayton (Donnie) of El Dorado, Ark. and Debbie Westerfield (Phil) of Omaha, Neb.; four sons, Scott Dawson (Kay) of Germantown, Tenn., Jeff Dawson (Stephanie) of Austin, Texas, Greg Dawson (Monica) of Colorado Springs, Colo. and Mark Dawson (Melissa) of Denver, CO; a sister, Nancy Ernest (John); fifteen grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be at 11:30 a.m. Friday, July 19, 2013 at Park Hill Presbyterian Church with Reverend Gordon Garlington, III, officiating. Interment will follow at Arkansas State Veterans' Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., Thursday, July 18, 2013 at Roller-Owens Funeral Home, 5509 John F.
