Marion Jean "Jeannie" Stanton, age 71, of Conway, Arkansas, passed away Sunday, July 21, 2013. She was born May 28, 1942 in Los Angeles, California to G.L. "Misto" Griffin and the late Marian Marie Griffin. After graduating from Conway High School in 1961, she married her high school sweetheart, Gary Stanton, on May 26, 1961. Jeannie was a devoted wife and mother and a loving "MiMi" to her grandchildren. She considered her primary job that of homemaker but worked for a number of years at Conway Dermatology until her retirement in 2012. Jeannie will be remembered for her gifts of kindness and compassion. She had a selfless nature, always concerned for the needs and feelings of others. She displayed a genuine interest in those around her so that everyone felt welcome in her presence. Her warm personality made every family gathering a special occasion. Jeannie loved cooking for family, tending her flowers and, most importantly, delighted in spending time with her grandchildren, Wes and Maegan. Jeannie was an active member of Second Baptist Church in Conway for over 50 years. She was especially close to the ladies of the Rachel Sunday School Class. In addition to her mother, Jeannie is preceded in death by a daughter, Laura Stanton, of Conway, Arkansas; maternal grandparents, Cecil and Dorothy Lane of Conway; and paternal grandparents, M.L. and Julie Hadley, of Bernie, Missouri. Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 52 years, Gary Stanton; daughter, Shelly Moon and husband, Pat, of Conway, Arkansas; grandchildren, Wes and Maegan Mathis, and Tyler and Marshall Moon all of Conway; sisters, Peggy Bailey and husband, Kenneth, and Gayle Austin and husband, Glenn; brother, Kent Griffin and wife, Jan, all of Conway; sister-in-law, Kay Pierce and husband, Robert, of Conway; niece, Gray Wagnon and husband, Stoney; niece, Valerie Henderson; nephew, Hunter Austin and wife, Ambra; and great-nephews, Tripp and Griff Wagnon, Kyle Henderson, and Hadleigh and Ethan Austin, also of Conway; as well as a host of other family and friends. Funeral services will be Wednesday, July 24, 2013 at 3 p.m. at Second Baptist Church with Bros. Mark Dance and Tony Weston officiating. Interment will follow at Crestlawn Memorial Park. Visitation will precede the service at the church at 2 p.m. Kent Griffin, Pat Moon, Wes Mathis, Kenneth Bailey, Glenn Austin, and Dr. Tom Hudson will serve as pallbearers.
