Gladys Selby

Mrs. Gladys Selby, 93, of Hamburg, died Friday, July 26, 2013, at the Ashley County Medical Center in Crossett. Mrs. Selby was a native of Hamburg, a resident of Crossett for the past three years, and a former resident of Portland. She worked at Sterling's Dept. Store in Hamburg for several years and later worked at Selby's Clothing Store in Hamburg. She enjoyed gospel music, "Jeopardy!" and "Wheel of Fortune" and authored a great many poems. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon Selby, in 1995; her father, John Madison Kelley; her mother, Willie Francis Kelley; a sister, Marion, Stamper; and a grandson, Kevin Dumas. She is survived by her brother, Robert Allen Kelley and wife Eileen; her sister, Donna Kelley Dumas and husband Johnny of Hamburg, Arkansas, and by her six children: Jimmy Dumas and wife Anita of Hendersonville, Tennessee; Johnny Dumas and wife Donna of Hamburg, Arkansas; Nancy Barnes and husband Jim of Marietta, Georgia; Charles Dumas and wife Sherry of Crossett, Arkansas; Paul Selby of Crossett, Arkansas; and Keith Selby and wife Sheryl of Jonesboro, Arkansas. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren. The family wishes to thank the staff of Ashley County Medical Center and Stonegate Villa for their care of Mrs. Selby and also wishes to thank her two "guardian angels" in her final months, Thelma Hawkins and Mrs. Louise Jones. Visitation will be Tuesday, July 30, 12-1:30 p.m. at Southside Baptist Church, 1508 Hwy. 425 S Hamburg, Arkansas with the service following at 2 p.m. with Reverend Vaughn Blue officiating. Interment will be in Pinewood Memorial Park near Crossett. Pallbearers are John Dumas, Jr., Stephen Dumas, Chuck Dumas, Brian Mills, Justin Mills, and Brandon Kelley.
