He was extremely loving and proud of his children, Mimi Miller and her husband Scott, of Little Rock, and his son Ricky Bass and his wife Stephanie of Shreveport, La. He is also survived by his grandchildren that he loved to play with, read to, and spend time with-Carson, Wilson and Beau Miller; and Sumner and Gibson Bass who knew him as ‘Poppee'; his mother-in-law Roma Gibson of New Orleans; and his brother Donald Bass of Covington. He was predeceased by his father Pat Farrington Bass, his mother Florence Pottharst Bass, and brother Robert "Bobby" Bass. Born on October 8, 1943 to Pat and Florence Bass, Rick lived most of his life in New Orleans, before establishing a second home in Little Rock after Hurricane Katrina. He attended Fortier High School and graduated from LSUNO. He was a successful, self-employed CPA for 35 years and Vice-President of Blue Water Shipping in New Orleans for 25 years. Although Rick was successful in all areas of his life, his greatest love and accomplishment was his family. He was an incredible husband, father and grandfather who loved spending time with his family and friends. In addition to being an extraordinary role model for his children, he was unbelievably giving of his time, knowledge, and friendship for anyone who needed it. Rick enjoyed living life to the fullest whether it be traveling or spending time at home. He will be deeply missed by all who loved him. There will be a memorial mass officiated by Msgr. John O'Donnell in Little Rock at Lafferty Chapel in Fletcher Hall at St. John's Center on Sunday June 9th at 11 a.m. and in New Orleans at the Academy of Sacred Heart Chapel (4521 St. Charles Avenue) on Monday June 17th at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials in memory of Pat Farrington Bass, Jr. may be made to Arkansas Hospice.
