A very special angel received her wings today. Rita Frances Tucker Brown, of Greers Ferry, Arkansas joined her Lord and Savior on Saturday, June 8, 2013 at the age of 70. Rita's remarkable life began in Bentonia, Mississippi on February 23, 1943 being born to Joseph Franklin and Coriene Elizabeth Tucker. Upon moving around several cities she is a graduate of Sheridan High School, Class of 1961. Then she married the love of her life, Charles A. "Charlie" Brown in 1963 and lived in Searcy, Arkansas for a short time before settling into her hometown of forty-two years, North Little Rock, Arkansas. This is where she and Charlie raised their four children. It was in her time here that Rita was an active member of Pike Avenue Baptist Church. After all the kids were married and left the nest, Rita and Charlie retired and made Greers Ferry their hometown. Rita then moved her church membership to West Side Baptist Church in Greers Ferry. Rita's career was serving in the Drug Enforcement Agency, where she retired after giving them twenty years of service. She also served on the Board of Enlisted Association of the Arkansas National Guard Auxiliary as President, Secretary, and Treasurer. Rita truly enjoyed life and living. She spent much time gardening, playing the piano, boating and fishing on the lake, traveling and providing a wonderful home for her husband of 50 years. Rita is survived by the love of her life and best friend, Charles A. Brown; three sons: Michael (Donna) Brown of North Little Rock, Arkansas, Chris (Wendy) Brown of Dothan, Alabama, and Joseph (Accursia) Brown of Temecula, California; one daughter, Mickey (Wayne) Marshall of Bentonville, Arkansas. She leaves behind her grandchildren: Austen (Brandi) Brown, Alex Brown, Courtney Brown, Bailey Marshall, Brodie Marshall, Tye Brown, Eli Brown, and Ethan Brown; and two great-grandchildren: Asher and Keeley Brown. Also surviving her are her siblings: Elizabeth Johnston of Ponca City, Oklahoma; Kay (Joe) Tracy of Maumelle, Arkansas; Pam (Donnie) Hill of Sheridan, Arkansas; Fred (Jan) Tucker of Leesburg, Florida; and Sidney Tucker of Booneville, Arkansas. Rita is also survived by many precious nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, and dearly loved friends. She was preceded in death by her parents. The family would like to issue a special thanks to Arkansas Hospice, Conway office. Visitation will be from 6 p.m. until 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 12, 2013 at West Side Baptist Church in Greers Ferry. Funeral service will begin at 7 p.m. with Dr. Bill Brown officiating. Interment will be 11 a.m. Thursday in the Arkansas State Veterans' Cemetery in North Little Rock.
