Idell Burns

Mrs. Idell Burns, 97, of Portland, died Tuesday, June 11, 2013 at the Chicot Memorial Hospital in Lake Village. Mrs. Burns was a native of Yell County, Arkansas and a resident of Portland since 1942. He was a homemaker and she baby-sat a lot of Portland children. She was a member of the Portland Baptist Church. She loved working in her yard, doing find-a-word puzzles and reading National Geographic and Reader's Digest magazines. She is preceded in death by her husband, R.Q. Burns in 1975; two grandsons, Michael & Ronnie Burns; a step-grandson, Clarence Shaver; two daughter's-in-law, Ellen & Betty Ruth Burns; her parents, Silas & Ada Smith Collins; five sisters, Nettie Brown, Zettie Haynie, Bonnie Sims, Ozelma Walker, Elsie Tippie and a brother, Brownlo Collins. She is survived by three sons, James Burns of Fountain Hill; Denver Burns of Portland and Robert "Booster" burns and wife, Mary Jo, of Parkdale; a sister, Leola Sission of Dardanelle, 4 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren,three step-grandchildren and 12 step-great-grandchildren. Funeral services: 10 a.m., Saturday, Portland Baptist Church with Rev. Carl Mason an Rev. E. W. Ricks officiating. Burial will be in the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Portland Baptist Church, P.O. Box 86, Portland, Ark. 71663 or to the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery Association, c/o Keith Ladd, 186 Ashley 121 Road, Hamburg, Ark. 71646.
