James H. Burke

James H. "Stoney" Burke, 78, of Fordyce died Friday June 21, 2013 at Arkansas Hospice Center in Little Rock. Born June 5, 1935 in Drew County, He was a son of the late Walter Monroe Burke Sr. and Georgia Elizabeth Chancellor Burke. He was a member of Beech Grove Baptist Church of Fordyce and was previous owner and operator of Carpet City in Fordyce. He was preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Lorene Sexton Burke of Fordyce; three daughters, Debra Burke Nevels and husband Tommy of Texarkana, Ark., Beth Burke Wooten and husband Allen of Fordyce, Paula Burke Freer of Maumelle; five grandchildren, Candi Nevels Campell and husband Blake of Texarkana, Ark., James Hoy Crane and wife Ali of Bryant, Bobby Ezell Crane and wife Anne of Horn Lake, Miss., Julie Renee Nevels of Texarkana, Ark., Amber Lange Freer of Maumelle; four great-grandchildren, Tyler and Taylor Campell of Texarkana, Ark., Logan and Lucy Crane of Bryant; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. The family will receive friends Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Benton Funeral Home in Fordyce. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Monday at the Benton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Nathan Petty officiating. Burial will follow at Stoney Point Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Beech Grove Baptist Church Building Fund. Arrangements are by Benton Funeral Home of Fordyce.
