Melvin Cleo Scott of Jessieville, Ark., gained his freedom from ALS on June 20, 2013. Born Nov. 7, 1948 in Cherry Hill, Ark. to Dewey and Alma Scott, he resided most of his life in Jessieville. Melvin was a veteran of the Vietnam War where he was wounded and awarded the Purple Heart for his service. He was retired from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers where he worked as a water-waste-water operator. A loving husband and father Melvin was a faithful member of the Jessieville Church of Christ and enjoyed the fellowship he had with his brothers and sisters in Christ. Preceded in death by his father Dewey Scott, he is survived by his wife of 44 years, Barbara Strassle Scott; his three sons, Dr. Tim Scott, Wade Scott, D.J. Scott; daughter, Gayle Scott; mother, Alma Scott; sisters, Frances Graves and Debbie Scott.
