Born Jan. 31, 1922, in Pine Bluff, she was a daughter of Frank and Amalia Berluti Turchi. Mrs. Atchley was reared and received her early education in Pine Bluff. Rosa Turchi married Dan Atchley in Feb. 1946, in Pine Bluff. Mrs. Atchley was a devout Catholic who spent the better part of her life serving others. She was a loving mother, always sacrificing for her children. She never complained about her sacrifices, but lifted them up to Jesus. Every morning you would find Rosa sitting quietly on the porch and offering up her day to the Lord. Every night you would find her praying her rosary until she fell asleep. We could always assume she was thanking Jesus for another day. Mrs. Atchley was a homemaker. She was a lifetime member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, the St. Joseph Altar Society, and Catholic Daughters of America. She was a past member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Mrs. Atchley was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; four brothers, Nano Jack Turchi, Floyd Turchi, Foster Turchi, and Frank Turchi; one sister, Margaret Turchi. Survivors include daughters, Linda Hankins of Springdale, and Rosemary Atchley of Lonoke; daughter and son-in-law, Margaret and Lee Matherne of the Woodlands, Texas; two sons and daughters-in-law, Danny and Jackie Atchley of Pine Bluff, and Tommy and Dianne Atchley of Athens, Ala.; one brother and sister-in-law, Louis and Janice Turchi of Pine Bluff; 15 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews who were very dear to her.
