Don Allen Burnett

Don Allen Burnett, age 88, died Monday, March 11, 2013. He was born in Knoxville, Tenn., attended Little Rock Senior High School and Arkansas Tech University. Mr. Burnett was a retired local business owner, a veteran of World War II, the Arkansas Air Guard and the Korean War, serving as a military pilot flying F84 Thunder Jets. He is a former member of Downtown Rotary #99, a Paul Harris Fellow and a Mason of the 33 degree. He is preceded in death by his wife, Thelma Jane Burnett and his parents, William Coy Burnett and Willie Ruth Mays, and sister, Rosemary Burnett. He is survived by his wife, Mary Alice Burnett; a loving daughter and his best friend, Donna Myers (Kemp Whisenhunt); step-daughter, Ann Stroud (Rick) of Fayetteville, Ark.; a grandson Jay Myers (Shannon) of Conway, Ark. and granddaughter, Meredith Tusa (Jeff) of Austin, Texas;; great-grandchildren, Miller Myers, Allison Myers, Ellie Tusa and Anne Tusa. He is also survived by brothers, Harry Burnett of Nashville, Tenn., William Coy Burnett Jr. (Linda) of Benton, Ark., and niece, Cheryl Baird of Nashville, Tenn. Don was a loving, devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend. He had a passion for golf and played with the "D.P.s" at Rebsamen Golf Course. He also played and worked until present at War Memorial Golf Course, a golf course he played for 79 years. The family will receive friends 10 a.m., Friday, March 15, 2013 at Roller-Chenal Funeral Home, 13801 Chenal Parkway, Little Rock, Arkansas, (501) 224-8300. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be at Roselawn Memorial Park.
