She was dearly loved by all, and she loved her family and her many friends, which all became a close family to her. Her art is her legacy and has been exhibited locally and has won many local and regional competitions. She enjoyed the rural setting where she was born and raised in, often referred to as, Old Austin. Her mother gave her crayons and watercolors, and being a dreamer, she imagined she could paint beautiful pictures. For many years she painted in her imagination. For the past 40 years, she painted with Darlyne Paulsen and her group of students; she never thought creating could be so much fun. She said that it was always as she dreamed it could be. Joe Evelyn was also a very talented seamstress, creating and sewing for family, friends and customers. Additionally, she was a member of the Women's Club. Funeral services will be held at 12 noon Saturday, March 16, 2013 in the chapel of Moore's Cabot Funeral Home, with burial following in Old Austin Cemetery.
