Betty Jo McCourt

Betty Jo McCourt, 85, of Bald Knob, died Thursday, March 21, 2013 at the White County Medical Center. She was born December 14, 1927 in Leachville a daughter of the late Wesley and Savannah Rogers Carnel. She was a homemaker and a member of the Central Baptist Church. Betty enjoyed dancing, was an avid flower gardener and adored her dog "Dingo." Fishing was also among her many enjoyments and she loved to brag about "out fishing" her husband from time to time. She is survived by her husband, Lloyd McCourt; daughter, Ann Davis (Billy Don Soden); sons, Ronnie Burress (Brenda), Jerry Burress (Carolyn), Jimmy Burress Sr.; step-daughters, Kathy Pickens and Phyllis Russell; step-son, Philip McCourt; 14 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents and a step-son, Michael McCourt; sister, Ethel May. Visitation will be on Sunday, March 24, 2013 from 1-3 p.m. Services will begin at 3 p.m. in the Powell Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Paul Reams officiating.
