Ruby I. Pharis

Ruby I. Pharis, age 90, was born on April 19, 1922, in Danville, Arkansas, to the late Henry Grady Crowder and Reatha Linker Crowder. She passed away peacefully at Sparks Hospital in Fort Smith, Arkansas, on March 25, 2013. Ruby was predeceased by her husband of 60 years, Raymond Carroll Pharis, and both of her children, Billy Carroll Pharis and James Steven Pharis. Ruby spent all of her adult life in Fort Smith, where she and her husband owned and operated Pharis Auto Sales for approximately 50 years, and where she later owned and operated Steve's Antiques for approximately 20 years. In her free time, Ruby enjoyed betting on the horse races at Oaklawn Park in Hot Springs, Ark. She and her husband Raymond made many, many trips to Hot Springs over the years in their private airplane for that purpose. Ruby is survived by one granddaughter, Carla Gay and husband, Robert of Fayetteville, AR; one brother, Donnie Crowder and wife Cathy, of Austin, Texas; one nephew, Kenny Glover and wife Nelda, of Alma, AR; and her daughter-in-law, Jan Pharis of Fayetteville, Ark. In addition, she leaves behind other extended family and many friends she has made over the course of her life. There will be a private burial service at Elizabeth Hall Cemetery in New Blaine, Arkansas.
