L. Norman "Buddy" Dean, 85, of Hot Springs, went to be with the Lord on March 29, 2013. He was born in Hot Springs on Sept. 3, 1927 to Fulton Leonard and Elsie Mae (Norman) Dean. Buddy was a member of the Hot Springs High School Class of 1946. In 1949, he played freshman football for John Barnhill at the University of Arkansas and continued playing football at Henderson State Teachers College where he lettered and made all conference, graduating in 1953. He was a Navy veteran. Buddy owned Dean Insurance and Real Estate Company. He is predeceased by his parents, wife, Lonnie Jean (Daniels) Dean and sister, Betty Laverne Baldwin. Loving survivors include his son, Leonard Dean, Jr., of Hot Springs; daughter, Connie (David) Davila of Little Rock; daughter, Dona (Gene) Scott, of Little Rock; grandchildren, Hunter Scott, Taylor Scott, Emmie Davila and David Dean Davila; and one great-grandchild, Weston Scott. Visitation will be 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., Monday at Caruth-Hale Funeral Home, Hot Springs. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with his nephew, Phil Baldwin officiating. Burial is at Greenwood Cemetery. Pallbearers are Leonard Dean, Jr., David Davila, Gene Scott, Hunter Scott, Taylor Scott, David Dean Davila, Phillip Baldwin and Keith McAnally. Honorary pallbearers are Frank Taylor, Bobby Hecke, John "Pancho" Wolf, James McNeil, H.A.'s members and his many wonderful caregivers.
