LEROY C. THACKER, 88, of Maumelle died Wednesday, March 27, 2013 at Hospice Home Care. He was born August 18, 1924 to the late Noah D. Thacker and Gladys Davenport. He was a member of Faith Missionary Baptist Church, where he served as Deacon for many years. Leroy served in the United States Navy during World War II and in the Arkansas Army National Guard for 30 years. He retired from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in 1981. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Lee Ann Moore; brother, Ray Thacker and three sisters. Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Carol Kennedy Thacker, of Maumelle; two daughters, Marcia Cash and husband, Chris, of Hot Springs, and Brenda Word and husband, Bill, of North Little Rock; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Betty Sue Garrard and husband, Harold and Gaynelle Fleming; and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held at noon Monday at Faith Missionary Baptist Church in North Little Rock with Dr. Freddie Holmes and Rev. Logan B.C. Hutson officiating. Burial will be in Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until service time at the church.
