William Gregory Hays

William Gregory Hays, 49, of McGehee, Ark., died Wednesday, May 1, 2013 at Jefferson Regional Medical Center in Pine Bluff, Ark. Greg was known as "Pop" to his grandchildren and "Coach" to everybody else. He loved to play with his grandchildren, be in church, hunting, fishing. He loved to be with family and friends at the race car track. He served 26 years in various capacities with the McGehee Baseball programs and was formerly active in youth activities at First Baptist Church of McGehee. He was born to Helen Evon Hays Stallings and the late William Larry Hays on September 6, 1963 in Dermott, Ark. Greg is preceded in death by his father, grandfather G.W. Hays, grandparents Joe and Helen Crowder, and grandson Carson Carter Hays. He is survived by his wife of 31 years Pam Henley Hays of McGehee, mother Helen Evon Hays Stallings (Jim) of Florence, four sons; William Joshua Hays (Melanie) of Pine Bluff, Jarrod Bryce Hays (Jamie) of Mt. Tabor, Jacob Brandon Hays (Whitney) of McGehee, Jordan Ross Hays of McGehee, brother Christopher Wayne Hays (Mae Margaret) of Dumas, grandmother Lorraine Hays, four grandchildren; Olivia Blair Hays, Jagger Bryce Hays, Hunter Bradley Hays and Addison Claire Hays. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday at Griffin-Culpepper Funeral Service. Funeral service will be 3 p.m. Sunday at First Baptist Church in McGehee with Dr. Ed Balducci officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Tabor Cemetery. The family request that memorials be made to McGehee City Baseball, P. O. Box 841 , McGehee, Ark. 71654.
