William Hershfield

WILLIAM (BILL) HERSHFIELD, 88, of North Little Rock, passed away May 1, 2013. He is preceded in death by his first wife of 23 years, Sylvia; daughter, Rhona (Ronnie) Schultz; and wife of 35 years, Gloria. He is survived by his children Steve Hershfield and wife, Mary Jo, of Charlotte, N.C., Bruce Hershfield and wife, Vicki, of Brewster, N.Y., and Susan Dillon and husband, Dave, of North Little Rock, Ark. Bill is also survived by grandchildren, Michael, Brian, David, Kristin, Jennifer, Jessica, Stefanie and Sandi and 12 great-grandchildren. Bill was born March 1, 1925 in the Bronx, N.Y. to Edward and Harriet (Sturman) Hershfield. After graduating from high school, he enlisted in the United States Army and served in the Engineer Corps in Europe during World War II. He and his family lived in New York until 1975. After marrying Gloria in 1975, the couple made their home in many cities while they managed various La Quinta Inn locations. The Hershfields retired to a home on Bulls Shoals Lake in northern Arkansas in 1982. In 2005, the couple moved to North Little Rock to be closer to their daughter. A memorial service for Bill will be held at 4:30 p.m., on Sunday, May 5, 2013, at the Griffin Leggett - Rest Hills Funeral Home at 7724 Landers Road in North Little Rock, Ark.
