Melvina Burns

Mrs. MELVINA BURNS, 79, of North Little Rock, passed away on Friday, May 10, 2013. She was born in Blytheville, Ark., on September 13,1933 to James and Mattie Sandefer. She is preceded in death by her parents; a grandchild, Jason Burns; as well as one brother and one sister. She is survived by her husband of 65 years, this July 16, James Wheelis Burns; and her children, Charles Burns (Paula) of Sherwood, Darrell Burns (Claira) of Sherwood, and David Burns (Donna) of Cabot. Other survivors include her brother, John Sandefer, of North Little Rock; six grandchildren and one great grandchild. She enjoyed sewing, camping and spending time with her grandchildren. She was a member of The Sherwood Senior Center and enjoyed participating in activities. She was also a member of the North Little Rock Church of God for 40 years. Visitation will be held on Monday, May 13, 2013, from 6-8 p.m. with a funeral service on Tuesday, May 14, 2013, at 2 p.m. at Griffin Leggett Rest Hills Funeral Home, 7724 Landers Road in North Little Rock.
