John G. Munro Jr.

John G. Munro Jr. died on May 4, 2013. Born in Fall River, Mass., on Oct 31, 1928, to the late J. George Munro and Marion Munro, John is survived by his wife Constance, son, Keith G. Munro, daughters, Carla M. Regini and Meredith M. O'Hara, 11 grandchildren, sisters, Betty M. Welch, Cheryl M Wolstencroft, and brother, Lincoln H. Munro. Mr. Munro graduated from the Durfee High School, Fall River, Mass., Bryant Univ., Univ. of R.I., and was a life member of Sigma Chi. John was a US Marine sergeant in WWII and the Korean War. Mr. Munro's work career included the Bell System in the Canadian Arctic; building, owning and operating Pat's Truck Stop in NY and a career in Personnel Administration working for the IRS, Defense Mapping, and the VA. John was proud of his citations from the Sec. of Treasury, Sec. of Labor, Under Sec. of Dept of the VA, and from the Gov of RI. John also taught at Roger Williams Univ. and Providence College and served on committees for Bryant Univ. and RICC. John was active in the Lions Club, the United Way, the Federal Exec. Council of RI, the RI Governor's Council for Youth Opportunities, St Johns' Masonic Lodge #1 and Al Azhar and Sahara Shrine Temple in RI. During his retirement in Hot Springs Village, Ark., John was active in the Shrine Club, the Men's 18 Hole Golf Assoc., the Cedar Mountain Ambulance Service, Lion's Club and the American Legion. John enjoyed golfing, directing the MGA tournament, was a member of the Sun Rise Tennis Group and was a volunteer at the Old Balboa Gate.
