Gussie Alexander Pack Jr., 80, passed away May 11, 2013 in Green Cove Springs, Fla. following a brief illness. He was preceded in death by his father Gussie A. Pack Sr. and his mother Johanna Brandt-Pack, his sister, Mary Cox, his brother, Milton Pack, and his daughters, Kathryn Yvonne, Lila Carlene, Candace Renee, and Jencie Johanna Hughes. He is survived by his wife Charlene Yvonne Green-Pack; his sisters Ruby, Violet, Darlene, Norma, Laura, Betty Jo, and Katherine; his brothers Alton, Willie, and John; and his son Charles and daughter in law Donna, and granddaughter Jenny. Gus was born in Orange Grove, Texas, attended school in Petronila and Robstown, and served as a Cannoneer in the United States Army. Following his service to his country, he and his wife Charlene resided in Little Rock, AR; Tulsa, Oklahoma City, and most recently in Orange Park, Florida. Gus was a career salesman, and retired from Joe Esco Tire Company, Oklahoma City, in 1993. Following his retirement, Gus and Charlene relocated to Florida to be close to their granddaughter. Gus attended church at First Assembly of God in Little Rock, First Assembly in Broken Arrow, Okla., Grace Assembly and Eagle Heights Baptist in Oklahoma City, and First Baptist in Orange Park. Gus never met a stranger, was a loyal Christian, a proud Mason, a true Texas Longhorn fan, and a loving husband, father, and grandfather. Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 18, 2013 in the chapel of Roller-Ballard Funeral Home in Benton, AR (501-315-4047). Interment with Military Honors will follow in Lee Cemetery in Benton. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday evening, May 17th at the funeral home.
