Skippy Claude Griffin of Little Rock was a "firecracker" born on July 4, 1933 to May (Williams) and Claude Michael Griffin in Little Rock. He died peacefully on May 14, 2013 in Arkadelphia at the age of 79. His love for music influenced every aspect of his life. He sang in the Arkansas Boys Choir and played the string bass at Westside Junior High, Little Rock Central High and in the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra. He also played in the Razorback Marching Band after a stint in the Army during the Korean War. While attending the U of A, he met the love of his life, Barbra Sue Day. They married and moved to Little Rock after he graduated with a BSBA in 1957. They were married for 52 years, had 2 children and three grandchildren. Oh, how he loved his family! He had an unconditional love for everyone he met and they loved Skippy right back. He enjoyed playing the bass and singing baritone in the choir at First Christian Church and traveling the world with Barbra. He is predeceased by his wife Barbra and his son David Lee Griffin. He is survived by his daughter DeeDee and Phil Baldwin of Arkadelphia; his grandson Blake and Abby Baldwin of Cave Springs; his granddaughter Allie and Josh Hesse of Little Rock; his grandson Clark Baldwin of Fayetteville along with special friends Becky and Jef Pryor of Little Rock. Visitation will be held on Friday, May 17, from 4 to 6 p.m., at Roller Chenal Funeral Home, 13801 Chenal Parkway, Little Rock, Ark. 72211 (501) 224-8300.
