Bobby E. Ramey, age 73, of Danville passed away Sunday May 19, 2013 at Chambers Memorial Hospital after a very brief battle with pancreatic cancer. He was born July 30, 1939 in Havana, Arkansas to the late Carl & Lena Bull Ramey. Bobby was a very successful poultry grower, raised award-winning Angus cattle, trained thorough-bred horses, and was retired from the Arkansas National Guard. He was devoted to his family, his church, and his community. He helped establish the first rodeo arena in Danville and enjoyed teaching kids about farm life. He was a member of the Danville First Baptist Church, Arkansas Angus Association and a past member of the Arkansas Thoroughbred Association, the Danville Lions Club, and the Arkansas Jaycees. He was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his wife of 30 years, Lina Ramey; sons & daughters-in-law, Brody & Becky Ramey of Briggsville; Bruce & Cindy Ramey of Danville; daughter, Bonita Ramey & Brian Jackson of Belleville; stepson, Aaron Wilson of Glen Arm, Maryland; brother & sister-in-law Carroll & Florene Ramey of Danville; sister & brother-in-law, Frances & Bobby Burrows of Danville; grandchildren, Raven Ramey & Caitlin Ramey of Danville; Jesse Yates of Fayetteville; Jonathan & Shelly Tidwell of Dardanelle; Shauna Tidwell of Danville; Blaine Ramey of Batesville; Christy Wilson of Glen Arm, Md.; Jeffrey Wilson & Robert Wilson of Casa; great-grandchildren, Brooklyn & Kayleigh Tidwell of Dardanelle; several nieces & nephews; mother-in-law, Pauline Shockley Barber of Russellville; brother-in-law, Brent (Tracey) Shockley of Houston, Texas; sisters-in-law, Nancy (Jeff ) Holm of Grand Forks, N.D.; Hazel Leslie of Little Rock; and Janie (Joe) Jirinec of Russellville. Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, May 23, 2013 at the Danville First Baptist Church with Rev. Clayton Sheets, Jerry Don Ramey, Philip Gray and Tonya Stanley officiating. Burial will be at Earl Ladd Cemetery. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the First Baptist Church. Pallbearers include Compy George, Johnny Baker, Tom Gray, Chad Vestal, Mark Avery, & Wayne Crawford. Honorary pallbearers include Waymon Sides' Sunday School Class.
